Gigapixel Photography
Gigapixel photographs are images that are over a Gigabite of data, usually a composite image produced from a number of images stitched together. The images are extremely detailed and there is much to see when you zoom into it as you can see with the images on this page. People can spend a lot of time viewing them which will add much value to your website as these images will keep visitors on your site for a longer period of time.
These images can be very time consuming to photograph and edit and much skill is required to make sure there are no imperfections within the image.
The images to the right are small sections of the large gigapixel image below which was commissioned by Cofton Holidays in Dawlish. The image shows the view over Exmouth and you can clearly see the beach and many of the buildings along this stretch of the exe estuary. If you look closely you can see the English Heritage round house, the new RNLI life boat station, the bird hide on Dawlish Warren and many of the boats new and old along the estuary.
This image is made up of 115 still photographs take with a Nikkor 300mm f/2.8mm high quality lens, stitched together into a 2GB image. |
