This image was taken late afternoon July 2006. It is a beautiful spot and well worth visiting. This spectacular 'dry valley' is unlike another combe on the north coast. The valley which was probably created during the Ice Age has spectacular weathered rock formations with names such as 'The Devil's Cheesering', Castle Rocks' and 'Ragged Jack'.

The area has some lovely walks and stunning scenery. Not far away is the villages of Lynton and Lynmouth joined via a cliff railway. A little further on is Countisbury hill, the Blue Ball Inn is well worth a visit. Keep going over the moorland and you will reach Porlock Hill which I think is the steepest road in England.... if it isn't then it's certainly one of them. Take a visit to porlock weir while you are there, lovely little place.
